1987 Cherokee - hose replacement
Hi - I just bought a 1987 Cherokee. Can someone tell me, judgment spared, what this ripped hose is? It's not only ripped along the line, but detached from the metal pipe that I presume it's supposed to be attached to.
Thanks!
Thanks!

To clarify, I meant the papery looking hose underneath it. You can see that it has several tears in it and the head of said hose is detached from whatever pipe that is.

1. Open photo in MS Paint.
2. Use drawing tools to draw a circle, oval, or square around the object to which you want to draw attention. Or at least an arrow.
3. Post photo on forum.
No, I don't know what that hose is. Nothing like it on my 94 or 97. Looks like what is sometimes used for air intakes. Maybe somebody cobbled together a cold air intake. If so, lose it. That's too small for a Jeep air intake.

I can't remember official name but it comes from by exhaust to air box intake. Pre heater hose, rings a bell.
As seen on carbureted cars mostly.

Reminds me of the flex tubing they would run from the exhaust manifold into the air cleaner on carburated engines to warm it up a little faster since you can't just start it and go with a carb. I dont see the purpose on a fuel injected engine.

Thanks all! Seems to be this part here, which is almost identical to what you suggested!:

Now that I know what part it is, seems like it's not necessary unless living in very cold temperatures. Won't be spending my money fixing it.
