Question ~ Pulled bearing off of bearing cap while doing rear main seal ~

As the title states, pulled the bearing off the bearing cap.
Dont know what to do.
Clean it and leave it dry?
Clean and put oil on it?
Clean and put assembly lube on it?
Also, what do I clean it with?

BTW Im not talkong about between bearing and crank, talking about bearing to cap. I have assembly lube for that.

Leave it dry where the bearing meets the cap. Carb cleaner or brake cleaner.

OK so brake clean all of it, put together with cap, put assembly lube on top of bearing, bolt back in.

Was curious cause oil was deff on the underside and didnt know if brake cleaner would hurt it.

can you post a picture of the bearing before you put it back together.. ?? would like to see what shape they are in.. might be wise to roll a set of bearing in .. not hard to do.. and well worth doing ..

Plastigage is prefererable to "looking at it".

Really ? even if just looking at it you can tell? ya know like copper showing? no need to plastigage if the bearing looks fine.. if it does not look fine no need to plastigage.. get new bearings.. then plastigage..

you do realize trying to plastigauge a crank still in the vehicle is not the simplest task..? he would have to support the crank as all the weight would hang on the caps..Not sure how many bearings you have seen in your life.. but just looking at them... if you know what you are looking at... is enough to know if they should be replaced or not.. and plastigauge is far from accurate when there is still a film of oil on the upper bearing.
