So I bought a 1990 straight 6 cherokee a couple months ago and now realize it has keyless entry but I didn't get a key fob when I bought it so I want to replace it and get it working, any ideas how the keyless entry box in the upper console comes out? or any links to a new system?

 

buy i new fob off evil-bay and get it programed

 

I have the same thing and you need to buy a fob
that is coded to your receiver
you need to drop the over head console and remove the controller circuit board to code is on the back

Or do what I did and install a cheap Bulldog Security remote start/keyless entry off Craigslist for $20 since the stock I/R ones suck. Ebay has em also for about $50.00. Easy to install on the XJs.

 

Double post. My computer is having ISSUES lately. Sheesh.

 

If you find aftermarket key fobs for early 90's models post up..I have looked and have never found any for 92 and older models..

There will be more then likely a pulsed output wire that you interface with the Jeep factory alarm that will disarm it.

 

Will that system work on my '92 Cherokee Sport? It has that receiver bubble but no other alarm system or keyless entry.
