ok so i've been wonderin....... when your gas light comes on, how many gallons are left? my guess would be 2 or so.
p.s. if it changed for newer cherokees its a 98

 

I know when my girlfriends comes on theres usually 3-5 gal left.

Same for my '96. Build sheet states I have a 20 gallon tank, so with that in mind when the gauge reads empty (sitting on E) I go and fill up and it only takes 15 gallons max. 15 is the most I have ever put into her because I hate having the light in face. 5 gallons to me seems like a lot for a reserve but if I was in the back woods some place and the light comes on its nice to know its there.

 

in the manual for my 01 XJ it was either 1-2 gals. cant remember the exact amount.

 

Ive drove around for 2 days with my light on in my 89... Dont know how much is left when its on, cause Ive never had the money to put a full tank in it.

 

I have the craptastic dummy light cluster but when I am sitting on E ihave about 5 gallons left.

I think it depends on how accurate or how your sender is set up too...

 

My light comes on with 6-8 left but the gauge reads 3/4 when full at 20 gals. I don't go by the gauge, I just stop for gas every 200 miles, or so.

 

Mine doesn't come one any more after the dealer replaced the fuel pump module. It runs out before it gets to 1/4 tank. I found this out the hard way.

 

i wish i had the owners manual cause it says a "official" amount in there im pretty sure

 

Just ask Jeep for a build sheet. That will tell you as well.

 

hmm. thats a good question. i should fill it up right after the light comes on next time and see.

but i did run it down to E the other day and filled it up and i got 15.25 gallons in, meaning i would expect that it comes on at around 7 or 8 gallons left.
