I have a Cherokee Sport seat in my 2000 WJ because the doorside bolster collapsed. They all bolt to their bases with 4 nuts on welded studs in the base. These 13mm nuts are very hard to get to unless you stand on your head in the back seat and it's easier to take the entire seat with base attached out and change it that way. The floor pan is different in the WJ than in either the XJ or ZJ so you'll have to use your original base or something from a WJ. My seats are manual adjusting and I think the bases are the same on both positions, driver and passenger. It's the cushions that are different.
Just about any year will work. My XJ seat is from a 96 and is tan. I'd like to find a pair of good ZJ seats so the color will match. The problem is I walk with a cane, so prowling junkyards is difficult for me. My local Pick&Pull supplies wheelbarrows which help. Any seat, $15+$2 core. Why, I don't know.
I wanted the flat seats because the raised thigh bolsters on the original were pinching the nerves in my hip after long periods behind the wheel. It's not good when your foot goes to sleep and you can't feel the pedals!

If that's your bag, do it! The seatbelts are attached to the floor so anything goes. Yours has a sensor for the airbag in the passengers seat to contend with.

That much rust on a 2004? That isn't a flood car, is it?

Cars that have been submerged are supposed to be sold with that noted on the sales ticket. After all the hurricanes lately, anything goes! Salt water immersion does bad things to wiring harnesses and other stuff.

I have WJ seats in my 86 XJ. It required some fabrication to make it work. They are not bolt in. Also, had to smash the floor board on the tranny tunnel a little to clear the seat if you are going to make like OEM height and function

The WJ seat cushions ARE a little wider, I'll give you that. There was no clearance between the seats and the console with the stock seats, but there is some with the XJ seats in it. I keep dropping my cellphone down there!
