Found a zj 4.0 manual! Factory 5 speed. It's a 94 in perty good shape. 226k but but motors been refreshed. I currently own a 97 xj with 160k but it's got a trans leak and I pretty sure it's the front seal. Everything else has been covered as far as new seals.

Should I trade mine or just fix it is the question?

 

Definitely seems like a good trade! The 4.0 is BULLETPROOF, as you probably already know. The manual ZJ's are rare as hell.

 

I would trade in a heart beat the manual trans is pretty rare in the zj. I wish I could put a manual trans behind my 5.2. I'd like to see pics of it if you trade

I did not know the factory installed manual trans in the ZJs. Interested in seeing photos as well. Show the trans itself also please.

I'd keep the XJ, better axles (given you have the Chry 8.25), better body style imo.

What T-Case is in the ZJ vs the XJ (242 vs 231), your AW4 in the XJ can be plenty stout if given a little love.

 

Yes, make damn sure the ZJ isn't a barnyard swap! Check out the VIN to make sure it's a factory installation.
