Default to trade or not to trade

hey FNG here. former toyota entusiast, now i have a 97 silverado with 6" lift and 35" tires. i found a guy willing to trade a 97 jeep grand cherokee with 2" lift 32" dynapro's etc. heres the CL link http://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/2581170864.html is this a good deal? any issues you know of with the 97's? i really want a jeep but im not about to give up my solid 350 without assurance that this is a solid jeep. any opinions welcome. thanks!

u will regret for exchanging ur truck for grand cherokee......my advise, go lookin for a XJ u will luv n enjoy every moment in it....but stay away from the GRAND series. The electrial problem is a very common unsolving issue in Grand Cherokees.

keep your truck, find a xj, build it, use the truck as a tow rig

I'm with this guy.. Y trade a jacked up chevy for a grand?? U have 4" of lift more, bigger tires, more power. Dumb idea. Go get an xj for dirt cheap and wheel the hell outta it! IMO that is.

I have a 93 grand and love it. The amount of flex the jeep has over your truck is crazy. I wheel with a Chevy that has 6" lift on 35s and can go more places he can besides deep mud. But I would ask for some money from him on your trade.

His price seems way too high. Just this morning, I found one for $4000. That was with the 318 also... 120,000. Stock and first and only owner. Plus you know its never been wheeled.

from what I understand it was the 99's through 2001 that had problems. With the Jeep you will be gaining a solid axle and much better articulation. Also a shorter vehicle with better approach and departure angles. late 90's Chevy products are notorious for leaking anti freeze at the passenger rear of the intake. They also go through fuel pumps like crazy. Evry car has it's own set of issues so you really can't say "don't trade" unless you compare the trucks in person. Just look closely and test drive. personally I'd take the Jeep.

Don't forget the front axle actuator that always seems to fail, doors that sag after a very short time, and transfercases that get sawed in half by the chain.

yeah the list goes on... honestly Chevy made a great truck from about 91 until 94 or 95 in fact other than the fuel pump on those (which was replacable without doing the whole assembly {60.00$ vs 500$ or more}) they were pretty bombproof. But for whatever reason Chevy can just not get the fuel pump thing down.

They say it is the new blends of fuels that is ruining the pumps.
