Would anyone be interested in the column shift along with the gauge cluster with the PRNDL?

So hey y'all. I took the covers off the 4.0L and saw this...

The tale of SuperMJ-photo827.jpg

A broken valve spring.

When I made sure the engine ran in the 91 MJ before I yanked it out. It did run little rough. I figured it was because of ****ty sensors or whatever. Now I see why.

Good thing I have a spare head on the floor. I ll just grab a spring off it and swap it.

On other note. Everything looked clean internally. The valve train look clean. The oil pan is clean. Timing cover is clean.

Somebody must have cleaned this engine up before stuffing in the 91.

I also found and had 2 Firestone Destination MT2 shipped; I just had them mounted on two remaining wheels today. Ahh love the smell of fresh rubber.

Now I finally have a complete set. Feels good haha

It's close in diameter as my worn out 35's on the XJ.

Then taped & painted it

I decided to re-use the original MJ engine mount brackets instead of those that came on the block....

Looks like you have an issue where your paint lands man. It really does stay where it lands anyways... lol In fact... Painting everything but the journals is a +.

I was just teasing a bit because you had stuff taped off. When we used to build race engines everything got painted except the actual journals. Crank, inside of the block, Etc. A coat of paint keeps stuff from sticking to it and prevents condensation from rusting it inside.

Ah ok I see.

I don't think I ll even want to do that lol Paint might peel off and clump up the oil filter, or small passageways.

Stock motors last just fine without being painted internally lol.

Of course they do. I was just ribbing you a bit my friend. It's kind of an engine building joke from back in my racing days. lol

Bought the water pump gasket, oil pan gasket & manifold gasket today along with some brake cleaners.

So I can clean & paint the oil pan.

Installed new timing chain & put the cover back on... installed the water pump with the outlet tube painted black.

Bolted the motor mount brackets on and hit them all with another coat of Cummins Beige.

Now I also gotta clean the dizzy and do the cruiser's mod on it. THEN it's gonna get a coat of black.

What else's getting a coat of black? The intake manifold and the exhaust manifold.

I still need to find that thermostat housing & have it hit with the Cummins Beige paint as well.

Are you not doing the 99+ intake? I see you kept the old style timing cover

My fault... I got nothing on you bro. It was a very old very poor "what? you afraid to get paint on it?" joke we used to tease each other about back in the day. Had to be there and I forgot that man. I went back 40 years there for a minute. Oldheimers man...

Yep 99+ intake is at work waiting to be sandblasted.

Yeah I didn't have a spare new style cover. Since I shipped it over to ya...

So I figure I will route the belt and see where I need to cut it off.

Also I'm upset because the head only had one alignment dowel. So I gotta either find another one or make my own.
