Default jeep Comanche hitch

Can someone please tell me if a universal hitch will fit on my 88 comanche? I've looked all over and can't find anything on this. I'm not trying to spend a ton of money on it. The trailer I will be towing is a light utility trailer.

Don't have a ball on your rear bumper?

I have no bumper at all. It was so badly rusted out when I got the truck I had to remove it.

It's one of the rarest pcs to find for a comanche and the quickest option to have one is to have one integrated into a bumper like the diy mj jcr offroad unit....

I have a Reese 37042 universal installed on my '90 longbed. Took some drilling of an extra hole or two, as I recall, but it was a piece of cake.

That's the one that's listed as fitting the regular Cherokee right.

You have after market bumper mounts, that hitch will interfere with factory bumper mounts.

Well, that's very possible. I've been rear-ended twice.....only required bumper replacement on the 'manche, but totaled the cars that hit me, both times. So I've had a Fey bumper for as long as I can remember, long before I installed the hitch.

if you can weld and find somebody to laser or plasma some pieces out, you could build your own. i just had these lasered out at work last night. perfect match to my factory hitch,...except i had the bottom hole for the tube running across lowered 1/2" to better clear my bumper i made.

You should make a few more and sell them here.

I could. But I run into the hassle of not having money to buy steel and then the lasers finding time to cut them for me and all that. I'd like to do it and help everybody out and even build the whole hitch for a few extra bucks but it might be a while. I am going to go price a sheet of 1/4" and 2.5" square tubing. And I could see what the lasers could do for me. I just don't wanna cut 20 sets of them and sit on them for years....
