Quick and easy. You can tell the 2.5 and 4.0L apart by counting the number of spark plugs or spark plug wires, the number of fuel injectors, or how many runners the manifolds have. One has more than the other. The emissions label on the firewall shows the engine size. Also, most ive seen had a "4.0 Litre" or "4.0 Litre High Output" badge on the tailgate, driver side.

Engine: 4.0, new lifters valve job with new springs and exhaust valves, preload set with shims
Such a cool looking jeep id Probly buy it without caring about the engine too.

Just to be helpful, there should be a sticker right under the hood (actually on the edge of the hood) that gives 'Evaporative Control Information', that might have it. Otherwise if you type your VIN, the 8th character will tell you which engine it has ('S' is usually the VIN code for the 4.0).
