I'm at a loss. My wife has a 2016 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. The button on the rear hatch to electronically release the hatch started working intermittently. Then it stopped working altogether. Following what I've read on forums, I climbed inside and after removing the plastic cover panel, released the latch manually, which worked fine. I then removed the switch that you actually press to open the hatch, inspected it, and found no issues. I reattached the switch and when pressing it, I can hear an audible "click" from under the dash on the drivers side. It's not loud, but it's there. I have no idea what to look at next. Can anyone point me in a direction? The switch, which looks fine, costs $150 from the local dealer, and they won't take it back if it doesn't end up being the problem. Thank you for any suggestions.

Does the button on the dash or remote work when the button on the hatch does not?
