Like the title says the rear hatch wont open anymore. Before if I used the key and turned it all the way over to unlock it would open. Now it wont.

I found they part for a new latch. Question is how do I change the latch when I cant get the hatch open? Does the plastic on the inside come off without the gate up?

Oh yeah it's a 2000 btw.

 

There are a few writeups if you use the search on here. You can access it from the inside, the plastic cover is held on by some plastic clips and possibly a few screws. The clips break easily, I hear it can be impossible to avoid them breaking. Once you have that off, you can see everything ya need. Again, the diagram would be available with either a search on this forum or google. Hope that helps a bit.

 

go from the inside below the window right about the handle just pull it open enough for you to work on opening it
