Noticed today that the right headlamp housing is getting a bit foggy on the inside in the vicinity of the side marker light when the headlights are on. After sitting in the garage for a few hours this fogging / condensation went away but came back after a short drive with the headlamps on. No leaks, the Jeep has been through a few touch less car washes with no issues or leaks.

Any thoughts or opinions? How bad does this issue have to be before Jeep will consider swapping housings under warranty? Wondering if members here know off hand what Jeep's policy is concerning this issue so I know what to expect at the dealer.

Not aware of this being a common issue. On ‘19s there were a few rear light housings which leaked and fogged, FCA replaced them. The dealer will need to reproduce the issue, regardless.

Thanx. It will be easy to do. Just drive around for a while then take it to the dealer to see for themselves. It does not take long with the lights on to start fogging, maybe half an hour or so.

 

Well, I now have a Case # from Jeep Cares and an appt. to have the headlamp housings looked at. The foggy only occurs when the headlights are on and clears up in a few hours after they are shut off. Some vehicles utilize a fan type ventilation to keep the inside clear because these LED's generate so little heat. I dunno, except I have searched everywhere and I am the only one to have this issue on the Cherokee that I can find. Lucky me I guess.

 

Getting worse. Emailed these pics to the dealer. Waiting for a reply.

 

 

Dealer replied. Says these pics do NOT look good at all. Wants the Jeep to run some tests to validate under warranty I guess. Making progress. Those three water droplets in the second picture under the yellow side marker are on the inside. This is how bad it is.

 

Good pics - If the problem is not resolved under warranty, a picture of the LEFT side lamp taken subsequently (at virtually the same time) showing a Normal lamp would be an incontrovertible argument that either the Right is too wet (or that the Left is too dry).

 

The first picture is the passenger side. Second picture is the drivers side. Both housing fog up and only when the headlights are on. This is a comparison shot of sorts, the right side gets slightly worse than the left, but both fog up. This is the first time that actual water droplets formed on the inside. All previous times it was only a fogging, not actual water.
