Brake? Issue 2014 Cherokee limited
I have a 2014 jeep Cherokee limited with tech package.
A few months ago I noticed the car was shaking a bit while driving. Checking when wheels I noticed the the drivers side wheel was hot to the touch.
I took it to the dealer and had them check the brakes and calipers but they found nothing.
The issue only happens sporadically.
I went on a 1500 mile road trip and everything was fine until I was almost home.
I could feel vibration / shaking through the steering wheel, the car was hard to accelerate, gas mileage dropped and transmission temps rose to about 186. Again drivers side front wheel was too hot to touch.
I was able to limp it home. Any ideas what could cause this other than brake issue? I’ll be taking it to the dealer again in the morning but fear they will just say they don’t see anything and kick it down the road.

I had this on the rear. The caliper brackets were building up rust under the stainless clips that the calipers slide on, causing it occasionally to bind up. The metal portion of the pads the rides on the clips was also rusting and dragging. The fix was removing the calipers, wire brushing the rust off everything and applying a light coating of anti-seize to prevent further rusting.
Dealer said it was a good thing I brought it in when I did as it is unsafe to drive. They seem to have forgot I brought it in to them a month before and they said everything was fine.
they want to replace calipers, rotors, pads, hoses etc and all for just $1,400.
luckily I have extended warrantee that covers all but $500.
big issue now is they have had it almost 2 weeks and say they are still waiting on parts.
the claim being a 2014 it’s too old to get part, which I find impossible to believe.
im losing faith in dealership service departments.

I'm guessing they want to do the calipers and hoses so they can charge the warranty for everything. Otherwise the pads and rotors are typically considered wear items and not covered under a warranty. $500 when it likely just needed rotors and pads is a good deal. I just did front and rear pads and rotors on my 2014 with 124k miles for $360 in parts. That was using upgraded PowerStop brand pads and slotted rotors and took about 2 hours.
The brand new pads were slightly too tall to fit in the mounts and had to be filed slightly so they'd move easily. The original pads were also very tight on both ends and had to be hammered out. So I'm thinking the original caliper mounts are actually slightly undersized. Both rears were very worn with the one that kept hanging up down to metal on metal. The front passenger side had plenty of material, but the front drivers was much more worn.
