Default 2016 (6 cyl) trans fluid (burned) change and filter?

60,000 miles on it. Bought it at 30K. (Wife's car)
Transmission light comes on, the car goes into limp mode.
Park, let cool down (or whatever) later it starts up and drives no problem...until the next time it happens. Not a repeatable issue.

Took it to where I bought it.
They say the fluid is burned, and I need a fluid change and filter.
(The drivetrain is still under Allies warranty.)

They say these transmissions need a fluid change every 30,000, and that's why the fluid is burned.
Burned???
Doesn't burned fluid indicate a major problem, or is this normal?

They want $600 something for a fluid change and filter.

Is this all normal, or should I be careful picking up this dropped bar of soap?

Thanks for any input!

Joe

Burnt would normally indicate a mechanical problem that needs fixed. 30k miles is also BS according to the service manual.
