Default Well whoop de freakin do.... Looks like i'm a jeep owner

Greetings y'all!
Buddy of mine & I have been playing musical vehicles for about the last 18 mo. or so. Spent a lot of time in his 2000 Cherokee after I sold my mustang. Had been looking at a wide range of vehicles & he comes up with a silver 2001 Cherokee. Unmolested, other than a 3" lift. Other than driving his, I know absolutely nothing about these things, but it can't be that hard...

Unfortunately I have a bad habit of not being able to leave anything alone... seeing different injectors, some necessary exhaust work ( little bastiges in his neighborhood stole the rear cat), and a headlight upgrade/relays.

Been playing with cars, trucks, motorcycles for the better part of 50 years. Sold parts for more years than I care to think about. Will be asking about modifications & what stock upgrades work best.

Welcome to the forum! There's tons of useful information here and helpful people if you're willing to listen. I guess I'll go ahead and tell you since you'll hear soon anyway, a common problem with 2000 and 2001 Cherokees is the 0331 head which has a tendency to crack, whether overheated or not. Hopefully you get lucky with yours. Good luck and I'm sure you'll love having a jeep!

well crap, not exactly what I wanted to hear, but forewarned is forearmed...
'course that does give me an excuse to do a little port work, etc. Any particular early head I should look for as a standby replacement??

thanks

if you get an earlier head I think you have to get creative with the coil pack mounts and I don't know what later heads you can get. I got lucky with a 99, but I've been on here long enough to see tons of threads on it. Good luck, and with a quick Google search you can probably find tons on the subject.
