Default Thoughts on this rig

Hello all! I've posted a few times in here before and I've FINALLY gotten some cash together for my very own XJ. I have roughly $3500 and wanted to buy outright from a private seller but came across this...

http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...&&aff=national

Thoughts? The low mileage is what I'm loving, everything looked OK from the pics (I haven't gone out to look at it yet) but seeing the engine compartment was a little blech.

Basically I don't mind putting a down payment and paying this off. I'm getting the XJ as a DD/weekend warrior nothing more than a 3-3.5" lift down the road. It will be my main vehicle.

Thanks for your input!

I guess it depends on the market in your area. I'm curious why it's been driven so little. Doesn't look like the typical "little old lady who only drove it to church on Sunday's" vehicle. Sitting can be as harsh as high miles. Also, this is a dealer. If you walk in planning to pay sticker price, shame on you anyway! Do what makes you happy.

Thanks for the input everyone. And no I wasn't looking at paying that price. What stinks is Murphy's law. When I didn't have the cash there were nice XJ's all over craigslist, now it's sparse. I did find this one though, have to check it out.

Since this is going to be my main vehicle I need to be very careful on my purchase.

Welcome to the site, the second one doesn't look to bad. I was looking for a Cherokee too, and stumbled onto a super clean ZJ on CL so I ended up with the Grand.

Keep searching CL, you'll find something. I set my email up so everytime a new Jeep went up I received an email. If something goes up there that cheap you have to be quick...lol

Here's the service I used http://heycraigapp.com

Offer 2k for the second one and barter from there. You need to go look at it and find things wrong to bring the price down. It looks like its missing the badging and side molding to start. And they called it a wrangler in the ad? Offer to give that poor cherokee a good home.

THIS, this is my biggest concern living in Buffalo. I've been putting serious thought to buying southern and trailoring it back up with a buddy.

My biggest problem with that is a wasted weekend to look at one only to not buy it

Welcome to the forum and to the family.....I would look at the second XJ and you can do what was suggested , take less than the price .....tell him you only have 3200 or 3100 so that you have some to get it registered ....you know here in good old NY that they want an arm and a leg even just for the tax......look for leaks, look for rust, especially the floor...even if the floor looks good under the jeep press on it to see if it feels weak....mine rusted from the inside out....and if you need some help send me a message....
