Default Newbie from Norway, with a -87 4,0 XJ

Bought my very first XJ, a 1987 4,0 Cherokee Chief. Was kinda step up, after wheeling a 1986 2,5 Comanche for a year, and now I can even fit my kids in the car...

Now first thing I had to do was to loose the ohh not so nice orange blinkers. Now I'm workin on those "American park lights", with yellow park in the lower lights in stead of white park in the main lights. Have to hook'em up via a switch under the hood though, as the Norwegian DMV don't like those yellow park...

My next project now is to mount the 2" budget boost I have lying in my garage, to fit the old 31" tires I just bought back again, after I traded them with some 32"s for the Comanche. I realize that 32" is a bit much for an XJ in Norway, as we get our plates revoked if we ride with "too large tires", but the 215/75-15 fitted are way too small...

Got a bit demoralized though, as my Haynes repair manual said I have to unmount the entire front axle, with both upper and lower control arms to fit new springs, but I cannot believe that it's that difficult... I'll try to unscrew the sway bar and try with a heavy Jack and some spring compressors and see how far I'll get.

Welcome to the forum.

When I did my lift I didn't have to disconnect my axle, I simply disconnected the sway bars and shocks then jacked up one end and did other end then vice versa.

Sounds great, good tip with the shocks, had'nt thought bout that. Then I'll soak the shock mounts with WD40 before setting off!

It now has a 3" lift kit and 32"11,5-15 tires, air snorkle, a bullbar up front and 2" receiver front and rear with an Anderson power outlet for winch.

I've also rebuilt the cooling system from closed loop to conventional system with overflow bottle, and eliminated the water crane.

Inside I have mounted a luggage room separator and attached head rests to the rear seats.
