Hello all, I'm picking up my 2 door '97 Sport tomorrow and I wanted to say that I look forward to many years interacting with you all on this forum.
I come from many years as a Mustang(2006 GT) owner, but unfortunately my GT was totaled in early Dec and instead of replacing it, I'm buying something I've always had a yearning for, a Jeep Cherokee 2door!
The specs on the '97 I've purchased; 4.0L 6 cylinder, 5speed manual, 4x4 drivetrain, red in color, gray cloth interior and just under 170K on the clock.
Runs very smooth and quiet, has a fresh clutch and recharged A/C unit. I got a super deal on it and will post a pick soon.
Paul

Welcome and congrats! I have a '96 2dr and love it. What all do you have planned for your XJ?

Well, I want to make it as original as possible, but who knows what down the road
I need to replace the parking brake handle(broken button) and the left front fender flare(it's missing). The paint finish is super glossy and is original and it has all it's center wheel caps(steel factory wheels). No rips or cracks in the interior and is a 2 owner Jeep with lots of documentation. Took me over a month to locate a late version of the 2 door as they sell ultra fast out here in So Cal. I'm very lucky and very happy to be a part of this forum. Any suggestions on what's a good way to mod it down the road? I'm clueless with the Jeep products and am eager to learn as I go forward.

If you lift it lose the flares, quick removal doors are sweet. Little this set them apart from each other. I made my own door panels, painted my front marker lights, flat blacked my hood (glare from roof mounted light bar was bad), and a bunch of other stuff. Best bet it to just start using it. Something breaks or functions to your dislike, upgrade or change it. Thing with Jeeps is they never seem to be done. This forum is loaded with lots of great ideas and how-to write ups. Here's one from today out playing in the snow.

Welcome to CF Paul. Sorry to hear the Mustang was totaled, and hope you weren't injured.

Thanks! No, just a bruised ego . Although, I haven't had so much fun working on a vehicle in over 17 years! My Cherokee is old skool, wind up windows, manual door locks, no cruise control. Just power steering, A/C and a CD player, everything else is as God intended

That's good to hear, and that's all you need. Less things to malfunction on it.
