Greetings, all! I finally pulled the trigger on an XJ, as I have been looking for a nice one for quite some time. She's a 2000 (still has the original cylinder head, so that's on my list to replace) with 143k on the clock. Not a speck of rust anywhere (Started life in OR, then to WA, and now she's been in AZ for awhile). She has the typical oil leaks and some other areas that need some TLC, but she's a solid rig and I have all Fall/Winter and Spring to get her squared away for next Summer. I like to take trips up North (between Kingman and Flagstaff) and I plan on throwing a tent on the roof and enjoying life on those trips. I plan to flush the coolant within the next few days and do an oil change with some good high mileage oil to see if the oil leaks slow down some. If not, I might throw in some AT-205 for good measure. Not too worried about the leaks at the moment, but I will fully address them before I put her to work. I'm a decent mechanic, so I look forward to seeing what the Cherokee can throw my way. I'm sure it will be an interesting relationship!
If I'd just seen the pictures my 1st guess would've been AZ - something to do with the quality of the light.
Now, this XJ, nice looking specimen b-t-w, chrome grille, black bumpers & end caps - & no markings, so which spec is it & how not stock?
I'm going to change the chrome grille, but keep the exterior the same otherwise. She's a Sport trim model. From my understanding, it's just got the lift on it.
I always remember the note of disappointment in a radio presenter's voice when saying it looked like the temp. wouldn't be in 3 figures by midday.
Oh yeah, "but it's dry heat" - lost count of the number of times I heard that. Seemed very odd to me, growing up thinking that sweating like a pig in the Summer was due to the temperature (I don't think UK weather forecasters ad discovered humidity then).
