Default New owner of a 2001 XJ

Hey guys, just wanted to introduce myself and the new Jeep I just picked up. I had an 88 4cly 4spd as a toy last year but ended up selling it. I regretted it ever since. Sooooooo when I heard about a family friend who had a Cherokee sitting in their yard, I did what I could to snag it.

$1900 later, I've got a 2001 Patriot Blue Cherokee Sport sitting in my driveway with 127,xxx miles on it. No rust (that I've found yet), 30,xxx on new motor replaced by the dealer, pretty clean from what I can see.

A few problems though, the CEL is on and has been for the last 40,xxx miles. Previous owner said he took it into the and they ended up throwing a new motor into it. Didn't fix the problem. I have to look into that and pull the codes. He said there's some sort of leak in the A/C behind the dash too that I have to look into.

Other than that, I think I should be in good shape as far as getting it to pass inspection and emissions. At least I hope I should be ok.

Wish me luck!

Until I get better pictures, hello cell-phone pics!!

Welcome to the forum!

You picked up your XJ for a great price. The 93 I just picked up this week cost me 2k.

I'm borrowing an OBDII scanner Friday and should have the codes pulled that day (I hope). If not, then I should have 'em pulled by Sunday.

I'll report back with the codes I pull. Hopefully it's an easy fix.
