newbie from Minnesota
Hi everyone my names curtis im from princeton mn and I use to have a 92 jeep sport, was my favorite vehicle i had ever owned, reliable, powerful, never died, even rolled it and kicked the roof back up and put a new windshield in. Ran into financial problems and had to sell it for 200 dollars due to the situation and the rough shape it was in, but it still ran and drove great. Right now im looking at a 2000 jeep cherokee sport for 4000 im going to go see it on wednesday. Looking for opinions on if I should get it, if thats too much ( dealerships up here want inbetween 5.5-7k for under 100k miles ) Thanks in advance and I hope to be fairly active on here and meet new people.

Yeah I wanted to lift my old one because I was so impressed with the offroad capabilities it had. The thing Im shady about with this 2000 jeep cherokee, is that it does not have the dana axles, it has chrysler ones. Are they as reliable as the dana ones that the cherokee used for years? Dont know what my plans would be on this one because of the fuel economy fact.

Welcome Im in the west metro area. No need to worry about the Chry 8.25. They are actually a bit stronger than the D35 (not hatin' on D35's just what i have looked in to the majority say 8.25 are stronger) and on a 2000 it would have the better 29 spline rear end if I remember right. But there are a LOT of VERY knowledgable people here willing to help. I mostly lurk, read and learn here it's great.

That's excellent news to hear on my end, because I just bought a 2001 cherokee sport on Saturday. Was more than I wanted to pay, but has around 97600 miles on it, all black, new kumho tires and new ( I believe they are called konigs?) aluminum rims. Not a whole lot of body damage, dent on hood and passenger door, I actually just got insurance on it yesterday so today was my first day driving it to work and whatnot due to labor day and weekend, was unable to put insurance on it. Has an alpine sound system with a remote which is pretty nice, but I don't think I'm going to keep that in there, pounding bass isn't really my ideal use of space in the back. Will probably give that to my girlfriend when she gets a new vehicle.
