I'm new here and thought I should go ahead and introduce myself. I purchased a '99 Jeep Cherokee Sport this week, bone stock and a good clean slate for a fun project. I'm looking forward to learning all about these vehicles and hopefully will be able to contribute at some point. It's got the 4.0, automatic transmission, 179k miles, 4 wheel drive and from a quick glance it looks to have the Dana 35 in the rear. That's about the extent of the technical details I know about it at this point. I already have 3 trucks and the moment and didn't intend to buy a Jeep until I sold one of the trucks, but I came across a pretty decent deal and couldn't pass it up. So the count is 4 now, starting to look like a used car dealership around the house.

The goal is to have a fun vehicle to take down to the beach, find the occasional off-road trail and drive it to work if I'm ever get the itch. The plan (as of now) is to do something in line with Rough Country's "XJ Budget Build." I'd like to do a 4 1/2" lift on some 33" tires and flat fenders for a start. I know with that comes some other items like the SYE and possibly a new CV. Then I'll get into some of the other goodies like bumpers, winch, rack, etc. I was originally looking at the RC X-series lift, but it looks like the members here have mixed views on their product. So I'll have to do a little more digging on that subject to determine what will best fit my needs, any input is welcome.

It seems to run good as it is, but I'm going to go ahead and change all of the fluids and let my mechanic run through it just to be on the safe side. I'm not mechanical by any means, so part of the plan with this project is to do the majority of the work myself so I can learn.
