Talking New Guy from Indiana $200 XJ

Hello Everyone,

I work at a scooter/atv shop in so. IN and we scrap cars from time to time. Well back in Sept. we picked up this 1989 Cherokee for $200, got it to the shop and there was no spark so we just had plans to scrap it. I did a little research to see if there was a common problem and i came across the crank sensor. Headed to the parts store and picked up a new Cap and the crank sensor. Put the jeep up on the lift and after an hour of work and $30 dollars in parts it fired up!!

As of now:

Replaced all shocks
Cleaned TB and new gaskets
Changed all fluids.
Cap
Crank Sensor
Fixed MAP Sensor vacuum line
Will replace plugs and wires soon.
Also have a fuel filter for it

It seems to have a slight miss at idle still, and i found the TPS can be adjusted on the Renix. Tomorrow i will adjust that and report back, and get some pictures.

Other Rides:

2002 Silverado 5.3 turbocharged/cammed/80e 550hp etc.
1996 Mazda Miata future LS swap

Well i replaced the fuel filter and fixed the map sensor vacuum line and it still wants to stumble around at idle when i tip into the throttle. I found the ballast resistor is cracked and the connections are crap. I saw where you can bypass the resistor and have the pump run full blast all the time???

thanks, plans are to keep it simple.

-make it reliable
-plasti dip
-light bar
-set of tires

i spliced the fuel pump wire running to the ballast resistor. and it still stumbles when you just barely touch the gas pedal. if you mash it, it will take off great.

seems i needs to check all grounds and clean them
