Well when i put it in drive it feels like its slipping in first, but if I put it in 1st and manually shift it seems to pull fine, but will not go into overdrive either way. if i turn the key on I can toggle the od switch on and off but if the jeep is running it will not light up.

Most '93 ZJ's had the AW4 trans, and if yours is so equipped, they were also offered in XJ's.
If you have the AW4, it may just be a bad TCM, located under the dash, to the left of the steering wheel. If you have the 42RE, there isn't a separate TCM, only the PCM.
How does the fluid look/smell? Is it filled to the correct level? Is it brown, or red in color? Does it have a burnt smell to it?

I believe its the 42re I had a jeep dealer run the vin and according to them it is. The trans fluid is red and does not smell burnt. And i filled up to the max fluid line on the dipstick.

Well then, I'm not up on trans trouble shooting, so you'll get a lot more replies if you start a new thread in Grand Cherokee Tech. Sorry I can't be of any help.
