Look what I snagged!!
Decided on a Cherokee XJ a few months ago and found one that doesn't appear to be as abused as others.
-2000 Limited 4x4 4.0
-Auto Trans
-117,000 Miles
Unfortunately drove it 130 miles home with no issues. Maybe needs an alignment but the next time i drove it check engine light came on and i'm pulling two different codes.
-P1294 (failure to achieve idle)
-P0456 (evap leak)...Hoping this one doesn't turn into a headache
I'm assuming the private dealer i bought it from just reset it before i purchased it....

I don't have a service manual for it yet, haven't been able to find a free pdf online. Looks like everywhere charges around $10.
What is the recommended maintenance i should do to the vehicle to prepare it for the upcoming winter?
I'm going to spray and attempt to clean out the throttle body and change spark plugs to try and fix the rough idle. Not sure what else should be done

The private dealer didn't tell me if it was them that replaced it or not but I do know they bought the vehicle from an auction so perhaps they did replace and paint the rocker panel.

Minor stuff? Hmm...I'd be REAL skeptical about those rockers. Did you poke your head underneath and see any rust?
I know on my '98, rocker rust was conveniently painted over by a shady small-time dealership. I didn't know about it until I poked my finger through it after I had bought it. Also on my '98, the line from the fuel tank to the charcoal canister is rusted. That sits in a box above the rear axle. I would check that out--problems in this area could throw that code as well.
Looks real nice otherwise.
