Default Hello from Upstate NY

I've always loved the styling of the 97-01 XJs, and being that I'm in Upstate NY it's almost impossible to find one without rust (that is for sale), so I got an awesome deal on a 2WD model that spent most of it's life in California so it's body and frame is perfect.

I've been the owner of all sorts of cars.. everything from souped up and flashy imports to strange cars like the Pontiac Aztek (which I LOVED). I guess I just love every kind of cars.. BUT, when I got my Jeep a couple weeks ago, it brought a whole new meaning on love.

It's in perfect condition, and runs amazing. Yes, it idles kinda funny. Yes, it creaks, rattles, and clunks. The MPG sucks. It's noisy and bumpy. But I LOVE it! It's snowing alot here right now, and I just took it out for a spin. Despite being 2WD it wasn't bad at all in the snow.. at least not as bad as people on the internet says. Reminded me how much fun RWD is!! I do wished I had 4WD though.

Anyway.. just wanted to say hi here and not just be some lurker.

Hey welcome from Albany, not too far away. You can always covert it to 4wd if you had the inclination, you need a new tranny, a transfer case and I have a new front end you can have for free.

Yeah not far at all. I used to live in Albany too!! How difficult is it to convert it to 4WD. I mean, I've searched on here and seems like a lot of people have discussed about it.. but do you personally know anybody that pulled that off?

Everybody else, THANKS SO MUCH for the warm welcome!
