Hello from MN. Rusted floorless XJ
I would say 16 to about 22 gauge should be fine. I'm using like 20 gauge on mine I think.
As bad as your floors are, I don't think that you really *need* full replacement pans.

I think it will be cheaper to just use sheets of steel and bend it to the shape of the floor pans and spot weld it in. The only thing that worries me is the seat posts (bolts that hold the seat. It looks like they are ok but I am worried they will rust off too.
i got my metal from the jy today and im gonna start rippin and tearin tomorrow. mine looks as bad as yours i found a hood at the jy i am gonna use. wanted stop signs though lol.
my jy metel was scraped for 18 gauge for the front pans and 8th inch steel plate for the rear pan to give everything some structure back there the unibody piece under the front seat was pretty ate up so we are going with the heavy metal for this part how do you get por 15 off your arms? i have undercoated everything with it 2quarts so far. This is getting pricey i bought the only rusty car in vegas aint that a b. any body need a hood in vegas i didnt chop it like i was gonna new steel is cooler.
