welcome
well you bought a 4 banger if you lift above 3.5 with 31s you'll loose a bunch of horses power. But there great my friend has a yj with a 4.2 with 4.88 gearing and 36's and loves it.
Any future mods?

Welcome to CF from Washington state!! You bought an XJ with the 4 banger. So, you will get good fuel economy. If and when you lift and get bigger tires, you're going to have to re-gear your axles. I ran 35s on my Toyletta Truck with a 4 banger. With 5.29 gears it worked great on and off road. I believe all the way up to 5.13 and even 5.38 gears are available for the Dana axles.

Welcome to the group from NC, with that 4-banger you will need to re gear if you plan on going to bigger tires like it has already been stated. However you should have 4.10's in most cases which you can easily sell to some one to make the money back.

Thanks for the warm welcome
Im not planning on going nuts on the mods in all honesty ( did it with a landrover and it ended up useless for daily stuff) and the lack of places to play here in the UK mean that its not really worth going oberboard.
I'm hoping that the Vm engine will provide good mileage and economy, its already got leather interior fitted and has alloys of a limited fitted, but as its going to work for a living I think steels will be more in order.
