Default Hello!

Hey folks, how's it going?

I have been lurking and planning a lot lately, but decided to sign up!

I don't have a Jeep yet, but am looking to get a Cherokee within the next couple months here. My dad and I were going to restore a 1968 Ford Mustang Sprint Series (he's had it since the early 90s), but my dad decided he'd rather sell the Mustang, and pick up a 4x4 for me so we can wheel together. I've decided to get a Cherokee, and if I could have it my way, I'd go for a 1999.

I figure I can get a decent amount of money from the Mustang sale, and use that for the jeep, along with hopefully a lift kit, SYE, wheels/tires, and any other main essentials to get my off the road. The Cherokee will be my DD in addition to the weekend wheeler.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to posting progress on here as I start things up when my get my XJ. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to the wealth of info here!

Scott

Thank you so much for the links! That's really very helpful. I have an indecisiveness issue about lift kits right now... Can't decide between RE or an OME kit. I like the DPG OME Super Ultimate kit cause it seems like it comes with almost everything, but the RE kits seem like quality stuff and have a better price tag, but the kits don't seem quite as all inclusive...

I'm hoping that lift/tire thread will help me make a decision on this cause I'm just flummoxed lol.

Thanks again for the links! Time to keep reading up!

Honestly, you can't go wrong with either of those companies. Just keep doing your homework until you're comfortable with where the money is going

Yeah, right now I'm leaning OME, but I'm gonna call Dirk over at DPG once I have my Jeep and get his input. Thanks again for the links, I've been flipping through those pages for a while and getting lots of good info.

Thanks XJwonders! I just got done flipping through your builds, pretty cool stuff. I'm amazed by what you've done! I wish I had access to all the tools you do. I used to be a machinist so I have most of the know-how for building things and welding, but just not the equipment.

Thanks for all the welcoming! Got the 68 Mustang listed on CL yesterday. I really hope it sells quick, and fetches a good deal cause I want to get the show on the road with this Jeep. Wish me luck finding a good buyer!

Well, some good news! Finally got the 68 Mustang sold. Well... Pretty much sold, waiting for the cashier's check to clear and then we are in BUSINESS!

I've been doing lots of looking and holy cow these Cherokees are expensive now-a-days. To find a clean one with fairly low mileage, people are asking $7k+ for this stuff!!! Stock!!! I thought I'd be able to find a clean one for around $3500 lol.

Those prices are pretty discouraging, but I'm gonna keep looking! Can't wait to finally get into a Jeep and get off the paved roads with it!
