Default 2000-2001 obtain cracked heads?

I just went to my local off road shop (MT. Zion off-road) to speak with them about inspection and tires and then he asked the year and I said 2000. He then began to tell me That 2000-2001 Jeep had switched manufacturers for their heads and got ones with coils in them which then promote the head to crack and coolant to drain on to the camshaft and then you'll proceed to loose oil pressure and your oil will begin to get real creamy. Does anybody know if there's any truth to this or have any information you could provide me with?

just do a search for 0331 head casting, plenty of threads on here. Also, Google can be of much use too. http://tinyurl.com/4swbzv4

Also not sure why this is in the introductions area...

Chit happens. The head casting in the 00-01 (and even late 99's I've read) is prone to cracking between the 3rd and 4th cylinder. Apparently in some cases its bad enough that you can see it through the oil fill hole. So your mechanic isn't yanking your chain. If your head is cracked, I'd run far far away from the 0331 casting (unless its a newer one). Alabama Cylinder Head and Clearwater Cylinder Head are some companies who I've read lots of good about when I was researching my recent issue. They have sourced a stronger 0331 casting than the 00-01. Later year TJs have an 0331 casting with TUPY on it which allegedly is a better casting. Alternatively, if you're handy with the wrench, you could always make a junkyard run and pull the head and exhaust manifold (0331 has smaller exhaust ports) from an older 4.0 (7120 or 0630 casting) and fab up some brackets for your coil packs, or if you're lucky, an 0331 from a later model TJ (03 & up, I think?) There's tons more info on this on here and JF. I'm just pulling this stuff off the top of my head from my recent reading. Searching for 0331 and/or TUPY should give you tons of info and lead you in the right direction.

Cheers.

its not as common as everybody thinks, it doesnt just happen for no reason, it happens when it overheats the head warps and cracks, so the trick is to not let it do that haha, ive got an 00 with that head and ive got 130k and no problems, and ive overheated it once already, and dont plan on doing it again lol

yeah youll be fine, how many miles are on the jeep? Just take care of the cooling system and you will be alright for at least till 200k and maybe beyond that, get an efan conversion for the clutch fan, a 3 row radiator, 180* degree tstat and she'll be good to go
