1989 wagoneer ltd. 4.0
I have 1989 jeep wagoneer ltd 4.0 with 217,000 miles and I just change the Fuel filter due to it jerking and stopping.. I also changes the spark plugs and air filter. It still does not run properly.. what could be the problem?? I think it might even be the catalytic converter which turned red hot while I was trying to start and keep running by pushing the accelerator...

get rid of that cat! the last thing you want on your rig is a bad catalytic converter, it'll back up all of your engine's exhaust gases and quickly cause a ton of detrimental problems...i wouldnt be surprised if that was contributing to, if not causing all of, your hesitation/jerking problems.

missing a cylinder or two on my '89 jeep
Thanks to all the guys. I now am able to drive my old jeep. But it seems like not all the cylinders are firing. I did changed the spark plugs and a one plug wire.. Could it be the gap on the spark plug or the plug wires??? How can I check which cylinder isn't firing without taking it to a shop???

unable to drive my 1989 jeep wagoneer limited 4.0 liter pass 40 mph?
I changed the spark plugs, a one wire and air filter, fuel filter and fuel pump but I just cannot get the care to drive fast past 40 mph and the idle to too high.. This is after i changed the catalytic converter and added a new muffler. How can I lower the idle on this wagoneer and what can I do to change or get the wagoneer to go faster or faster than 40 mph?? Thank you guys

Renix crap emissions controls
Hey Sonny Join this forum http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/f11/89-cherokee-renix-ignition-upgrade-718571/ and get in touch with 5-90 as this web page states he is the man of the renix years...
All I know is that 87-89 bolts that hold the intake and exust manifold on 6 cylinder engines work them selfs loose as per Jeep magizine. And the renix years are crap for there crap emmissions controls... again as per jeep magazine.
hope this helps.
Another huge helper for the Jeep Crazy guy is Zinio.com I would look at the January 2010, May 2010, Jpmagazine for some nice treats of info...
