1989 XJ 4.0 4x4 auto

This might be stupid but me and my friend hooked up a radio in my jeep and now the clocks stays on even when I turn the jeep off.

Isn't it supposed to turn off? It didn't work until we put in the radio and I've never had a radio in my other 94 XJ.

If it is supposed to go off what could be wrong?

 

You have the ignition power line on the radio attached to an always on power wire. Move it to an ignition hot wire and it will be fine.

 

Okay. I unhooked the battery terminal just to be sure it will not die even though it will probably be fine over night.

I'll start switching wires up tomorrow until hopefully I fix it.

 

Don't randomly change wires. It should be labeled or in the manual. It's either orange or yellow. Cant remember which.
