I am looking for a complete disc brake conversation for a 8.25 rear axle. I have a '99 XJ. I would prefer the parts be from a Jeep Liberty (KJ) as it is direct bolt on. Please let me know what you have.

Thanks!

I've never seen a Liberty in the yard that had rear disc's.

Interesting. There are a bunch of thread where people have used KJ rear disc to convert an XJ. How 'bout this: Put me first in line when you get a set from a KJ.

Thanks!

Might be a long wait.

Curious. Why are you dead set on the Liberty parts?

Seems as if he wants something that requires zero fab work. Although, clearancing for the swap on an 8.25 is about as easy as it gets.

Forgive my ignorance, but how would I go about doing a disc conversion on a d44?

Not sure, I've never done a 44. I hear that if you use the Ford Crown Vic brakes it's a easier swap.

Here is a write up for the Dana 44

I do not have the tools required nor the expertise to make the ZJ backplates work on the XJ C8.25.

Harbor Freight. test fit as you go taking off just a little at a time. or take your current xj plate, place it over the zj plate, mark it, then grind. or use a micrometer for exact measurement. dont be skeert!

I just used a Dremel. $30 from Lowe's and a couple extra grinding stones. Your best bet for finding Liberty parts is to hunt Craigslist for a part-out, or search your own junkyards.

if you don't have the tools or expertise required to make a hole a little bigger, I'd be questioning your ability to do the conversion at all.
