Default ZJ Disc Brake swap

So I've finally scored some ZJ disc brakes to swap on to my XJ. 100 bucks for everything off the back axle and the proportioning valve. My question is about the master cylinder. My Cherokee is a '96 and has a plastic one, do I wanna rob the master off the ZJ or use the metal one I have off this '93 parts XJ I've got? Is there a difference?

Why are you wanting to change out the m/c? Did my '96 not long ago and only thing I used besides the components on the rear was the guts from the p/v.

I thought the metal ones were supposed to be a better master?

Can't say that I've ever heard that.

Don't change the master and don't change the whole prop valve. Just the guts of it.

I'm still amazed every time I touch the brake. What an improvement.

Yes you do. As Cruiser says it is the bomb.

Only downside for me is the wife likes it so much she wants me to convert her '96 Blazer. Wouldn't mind at all but from what I've read it's not a OEM conversion.

Luckily that isn't something I need to worry about. The wife has a pretty new Sorrento thats about a million times nicer to daily than the XJ. She has no desire to drive mine lol.

I just need to do all the projects I already have waiting to get installed, but I'm moving this week and theres too much going on to wrench on the Jeep. I have SYE and new DS to throw on, extended brake lines, front bump stops, valve cover gasket to replace. I need to get to it.

I can relate! My conversion was kind of a need to. I was out of commission a good while and could wrench. By the time I could the rear drum brake assemblies and front rotors needed replaced so I went with the discs.
Now every time I try to get started on redoing my cooling system, installing a new belt and idler, and v/c gasket (all parts sit in the garage) the wife's Blazer needs attention. Can't have both vehicles down at once.

So this is kind of a hijack, and I apologize for that. But it's also kinda relevant, especially if the op hasn't finished their job yet. So, I'm about to bolt the backing plates on for my swap. Gonna replace the axle seals, and maybe the bearings that sit behind them. Are those any more than pulling them out and then tapping the new ones in?

Why not? I have a 2000 Blazer with 4 wheel discs and 4 W/D. Shouldn't be that difficult.... All OEM

3 ways to do it:
complete rearend swap(not cheap)
$300 in various GM parts(probably more,it was an older post)
or an aftermarket kit

I didn't get in to the first and last option details much due of cost. None are direct swaps. Other modifications need done.
