Default xj lift questions

Hey all, I'm trying to decide on a lift for my heep. If I went to 4.5 lift would I be able to use my stock d shafts? Also would I need a sye? This will not be a crawler or anything just a showboat beach cruiser. I want to lift it but don't want to change shafts or add a sye. (unless I absolutely have to).

At 4.5 it is advised you go for a slip yoke eliminator and run CV shafts.
If you just cant do it for whatever reason you could do a t-case drop..but that is just dumb if you ask me. Do it right..dont cut corners.

What year is your xj?

For what its worth.. I had an 88 with about 4.5-5 inches of lift, no t-case drop no sye.. and it was fine.

My 98 had a 4.5" lift and had vibes.

My 00 has 4.5" of lift and has vibes..got a HnT waiting to go on.

I have a 2000 XJ with a RC 4.5 in lift, came with a transfer case drop. Running new 33 bfg at's. Smooth as can be. No sye, same drive shafts. Every jeep is different though. Its my dd. Same thing with mine beach cruiser, light trails.

I just dis-like t-case drops. You raise the jeep up, then lower your transfer case and lose ground clearance.

Mine is a 91. Also what about adj track bars. I could just use track bar drop brackets? Longer sway bar end links? Maybe I could go with the rustys 3 inch lift with coil spacers and rear blocks later if I want. I don't have the coin to do it all at once. Iron rock off road has a 4 inch kit for 449 with shocks and spring packs.

1. You need to read up.
2. Track bar drop brackets are dumb. The only time you should use a different bracket is if your going double sheer.
3. At 4.5 you NEED an adjustable track bar
4. Blocks are horrible
5. Save your pennies and do it right.

Points well taken. I just had a tj that I lifted 2.5 inches with a rc system. I was always wanting more and was not really impressed with the ride anyway. I want to do a 4 inch lift. My list of must haves. Rustys lift with spring packs, adj track bar, t case drop, extended brake lines. Could I avoid d shafts, and rear adj track bar?

This

I know OP you was to be a mall crawler but there's still a safe right way to do it. I hate my TC drop and am saving up for an SYe and new dS. Have a dS track bar. Do it once so it last ya on those beaches

You talking about a 4 inch lift for your Xj?
have you even taken a look under the jeep? I don't think you have.. xjs don't even have rear track bars...
Already told you that you would most likely need some type of drive line mod at that height

Crap, still had tj on the brain. Yeah, leaf springs=no track bar sorry. I am just going to get the rustys 4.5 and add the other stuff as needed like sye and shafts if I HAVE to.
