HID’s the Smart Way
First off: No matter what the package or seller or website say, ALL HID KITS are ILLEGAL to install in a vehicle that did not come from the factory with HID headlamps under federal law (FMVSS No. 108 Section S7.7).
If you choose to install HID’s anyway read on.
There are some common mistakes made by people that put HID’s into vehicles that did not originally come with them.
1) In a replaceable bulb system (think ZJ not XJ) people merely pull the old bulb and put in the HID bulb.
2) In a sealed bulb system (XJ’s) people get cheap “projectors” off of ebay which are nothing more than a reflector lens with a ring around the bulb that is supposed to simulate a projector and place an HID bulb in them.
3) People get halogen housings (ecodes and the like) and place HID’s into them.
All of the above mistakes lead to light being scattered everywhere which blinds oncoming drivers and attracts police attention.
The correct way to put HID’s into a vehicle that does not originally come with them is to place the bulbs into a true projector housing.
True projectors are expensive http://www.futurevisionhid.com/h6054...headlight.html
A solution to this problem is to retrofit projectors into a standard 6054 housing allowing you to have a safer HID kit that won’t blind oncoming drivers https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f58/he...9/#post1391556
There’s a lot of HID specific issues to address but this is a basic writeup and is meant to inform about legality and the proper way to install these lights.

well i bought some $25 ebay headlight housings and $65 ebay H4 5K bixenons and it made the world of difference. i fully understand theres much better ways of doing this (full projector swap) but i had the hid kit already and figured why not. the output is definitely scattered but its 1000Xs brighter then stock. theres a trillion other vehicles on the road with hids in standard halgen lenses so its not like im the only one here. i do recommend doing it the correct way tho. my jeep passed state inspection as well as the other vehicles ive owned that had them so m not sure how illegal it is. i highly doubt johnny law is going to bother with u over hids. anyways heres a day pic of installation
i aimed them down some and ive never been flashed by anyone on the road

I just bought my projectors from NorCalMR2.
The $170 kit isn't complete.
The basic kit that is complete is their PEG-HID, and costs about $300 but does not include hi beams.
Next month the hi/low comes out for about $350.
I can tell you, though, that Tom from NorCal is amazing at customer service. He answered every email I sent him, and did it quickly and respectfully with plenty of knowledge to back him up.
If you want a good kit without the headache, go with NorCal.
