Wouldn't it just be easier to get the cluster from a lerado and swap sensors. Vs all the rewiring?

A laredo of your year is cable driven too. Either get a guage cluster that has a mechanical speedo or rewire that one. Ive get a mech speedo in mine and i have the newer style tach (and a spare) the cluster one i have will bolt right into urs and work with no mods.

I think he just wants the actual gauges instead of the idiot lights just swapping in a cluster from a Laredo would give him the cable driven speedometers plus all the gauges., is it as simple as just swapping it out or do the temp sender and oil sensor need to be swapped out also?

If he has idiot lights he will have to replace the oil and temp senders (not sure if both need to be changed for sure but they are cheap) the cluster he has tho is an electronic speedo, his jeep has a cable driven one. All he needs to do is A. Get the electronic sender and wire a key on power source for it or B. Get a cluster from 87-90 with what he wants and it will bolt in with no mods.

Any cluster from 87 to 90 will work, 90 was the last year of the cable speedo. And yes its plug in play as long as you stay between 87 to 90, just swap the oil psi sender and the temp sender and your golden. The cluster will just plug into the factory harness. While you have the cluster out make sure to check and replace all the blubs. I just did this recently, I had all the gauges except the tach, I had the famous giant gas gauge, I found an 90xj with the tach cluster at the jy one day and decided to go for it

Also make sure you check out the little idiot light center to left in the cluster where you have you low washer, seat belt, 4wd light, etc. In the new cluster check out what options were from the doner and take out the blubs you dont need and add the bulbs you do need, exp. if yours has the full time 4wd and the new cluster only had the part time 4wd light, you need to add a bulb to the full time 4wd light socket if you want the light to work.

If you're looking grab cluster, I have one from an 88 in my garage that needs a new home, it's a full gauge cluster with tach and mechanical speedo.
