Default WJ BB install help.

Hey guys,

So my buddy has a 2004 jeep grand cherokee and he got a 2 inch BB kit. it has the front and rear spacers. i have a cherokee so im not very good with coils in the back and what not. can anyone help me out and tell me which spacers go in the front and which in the rear, also if they go on the bottom or top of the coil in the rear. also any write ups on the install would be helpful, i was assuming unbolting the shocks and sway bars and possibly control arms and letting the axles drop to get the coils in. also will he need new shocks with this amount of lift or will stock ones hold up? any other things im missing or dont know just holla.

thanks for the input

If i remember correctly the larger coils are in the rear on the WJ...you will be able to tell real fast once you pull a coil out. Spacers usually go on the top along with the factory isolator. And yes disconnecting stuff will definitely help droop the axle down, coil spring compressors work wonders as well.

I concur with dubble.

With a ZJ we installed a BB on a while back we didn't use the compressors. It flexed enough with the swaybar and shocks disconnected. If the ZJ is like the WJ anyway try that.

The shocks should be ok for now but he should plan on replacing them when he can.

After quite a bit of researching this i found it can be done both ways. If you know what brand they are you could probably find the companies instructions.

If you go with them on top make sure to put the isolator below the spacer, in between the spacer and coil.

And if you install the spacers below the springs be sure to put them below the plate the coil sets on.

Will 31x10.50x17 fit on stock rims or will they need to be 31x10.00x17? Im worried about the width of the tire fitting on the stock rim.

Thanks for the suggestions

Let me correct myself, the tires will be in metric size but still will a 10.50 wide tire fit on stock 2004 wj rim.

Do you know what the width of the wheel are? Most likely they are 7" wide, and if so, yes they'll fit. They might rub in the front on the lower control arm when turning, at least they usually do on some other jeeps.
