Default Wiring off road lights.

Just ordered 4 of the $15 a piece 100watt navigator 6'' offroad lights. A buddy has them, says they are great, and they have great reviews on amazon.

Problem is, unlike a pair of $125 KC Daylighters, These just come with a red and black wire out the back. So I need help on how to wire these up. This is what I was thinking;

run the center 2 and outer 2 on 2 diff. switches.

Both run with 50amp switches, a 20amp fuse on each light, and 12ga wire. By using the 50amp switch, and only putting 2 on each switch, I should be fine, running without a relay. Iirc, each 100watt light draws about 13 amps, so each switch would be handling 26amps, just over half the rating.

Am I good with my wiring ideas?

that would work because thats how i run my 2 kc daylighters. only thing is, is that with that 20amp fuse it doesnt matter how much the switch can handle if its anything over 20amp rated. i would say run 12g wire with a 30amp switch and fuse. i run with 30amp and works just fine

Or you can run whatever switch you want if you use a relay. Also, no point for a fuse for each light, fuse sets of 2 IMO.

x2... lower capacity switches & thinner gauged wire are also cheaper... & yea, 20A for per pair

watts/volts = amps

100/12 = 8.333333 (when engine's on, 100/14 = 7.142857), or 10 amps per light

a branched, paralleled load circuit, the feed wires, connectors, fuse, & switch will carry the SUM of the amperage drawn by each load... so, 12ga wire, 20A fuse is sufficient for each circuit... switch would also be rated for 20A

dont go easy on the wire gauge for moneys sake the thinner wire will heat up when running at 26 or even 13 amps my fog lights from walmart run thin wire and it is always hot. hot wires cause fires and other bad things

Is the wire heavy duty, ie 12 or 14 ga? I called, and the dude said it was kind of wimpy.

Like I said, I was just plannin on buying a role of 12ga wire. or whatever I need for 4 lights. How big of wire do I need for running 40 amps through it?

Then a pair of 30 amp switches and fuses.

Yeah I will say that the wire isn't the best, but I still taught it was a pretty good deal.
