Default winch troubles

So I go out and play a little last night. I end up using my winch (8000# promark silverback) it performs perfectly untilled I unhook it from a tree and all it does is clicks...worked fine when I needed it but I went to spool the cable up and "click ....click.....click" everytime I hit the button all I get is a loud click...ANY SUGGESTIONS? ? Iv tried tapping on it but nothing.. its only 6 months old

A common thing to happen on import winches (I had one too) is that the brushes get stuck and don't make contact with the armature. This is caused by the wire for one of them being too short and binding it in its holder. You will probably have to take the end off the motor and free it up. I would suggest using a very small bit of dielectric grease on it, but just enough to lubricate the brush with a thin film

I got a Warn 9.5XP off a buddy that now does the same thing.. I haven't really bothered checking it out yet as I have nowhere to mount it yet. Hope it's also a cheap fix.. I'll have to check back in here to see how you make out!

I got an m8000 for free off of craigslist, it did the same thing. Click, click, click. I tried freeing it up, and took it apart but still nothing. I ended up buying a new motor for it off Amazon for right at $70- works like new now.

So I cleaned and greased er and still that dreaded click. It it coming from directly above the cable, on the highest part of the winch. I don't have a picture of the winch itself but its a promark silverback 8000. Any ideas??
