yeah it should really be spidertrax or nothing. (are there any equally good brands? I'm not sure). the one with the broken stud I saw was definitely not spidertrax. but once you're done buying 2 sets of spidertrax you're pretty close to the price of some black steelies (I know not everyone likes them, but they're sensible and strong)

you don't notice it but trust me it's there. it's not incredibly dramatic or noticeable in all situations though. the strain on the stock steering made me cringe when my tires were bound up in rocks. 1 ton steering/ good steering geometry can really help fight the feeling.
but once again, my comments aren't directed toward the guy running offset wheels. just the guy running offset + spacers

I have been running spidertrax 1.25" spacers with Tj ravine wheels for over 2 years. I put a little bit of lock tight on the factory hub studs and use anti-seize on the spacer studs for the wheel lugs. Never had any issues with them loosening up. They are always at the torque I set them at. Make sure the hat of the rotors and or drums are clean so the spacer sits nice and flat. Just make sure they are torqued right and you will be good to go.

I hate the reason people are against spacers because "you should just get the correct backspaced wheel..." Many people like myself aren't interested in new wheels, not due to budget but because of looks. I bought my tubines to keep, I would never swap them out for some soft 8s, the tubines look amazing they just aren't the right backspacing so I use a 1.25" spacers. I've had my spacers on going on almost two years now and never had an issue.

While I understand the point you are making if the owner of the rig prefers wheels that require spacers to run the tires they want what does it matter? Ultimately it is his rig and and as long as they are installed properly and the torque is checked as part of maintenance I don't see the big deal in using them. My reasons for running spacers are pretty simple. I hate smooth 8's, I wanted to keep the lighter weight aluminum wheel, I don't like the look of a lot of the after market wheels, I don't want to deal with the maintenance of full bead locks as I still drive the jeep regularly on the street. Oh and I already had the ravine wheels.
