Default What jeeps have Chrysler 8.25 29 spline donor?

What jeeps have the 29 spline 8.25 Chrysler? Going to look over the salvage yards for prospects. Are there any details I need to look for? Disc brakes would be a plus.

It needs to fit my 2000 xj

Going 33" tires locked front/ rear 4.56 gears

Thank you.

96 and up, best shot tho is 97 and up tho because 96 was half and half for 29 and 27 spline. I snagged mine from a 98. By the way do you have the HP D30 in there if not grab one of those as well while your there.

Mine is a LP. Is is worth the swap? What am I gaining?

You gain having your pinion higher up out of harm's reach, and reduced drive-line angles which is helpful when running a lift. Becuase the low-pinion and high-pinion axles used different gear cuts, it would be best to do it now before you order and throw those 4.56s on your rig. If you wait and do it later, you'll have to shell out money for a new front ring and pinion set.

Looks like I might go a ford 8.8 conversion. Not a good selection of jeeps close by.

97-01 XJ's have the 29 spline 8.25

You can do a disk swap using the rear brakes off a jeep liberty (also 8.25's ) there's plenty of write ups on naxja on disk swaps

The 29 spline 8.25 strength is equal to a D44. I beat on mine with 33's and 35's with no issues and it's proven to be pretty stout so I picked one up to swap into my YJ

I thought the same thing and then I started seeing the amount of money to get a 8.8 under my jeep and went hmmmm 29 spline is alot easier on me and the pocket book.

I dont know where in Alabama you are but there is a 99 in the Birmingham Pull-A-Part and another 99 in the Montgomery PAP. But then again, they also have a ton of 97+ Fords in all three Alabama PAPs to get that 8.8

Well, I can do the fab work myself.

$189 or $35 Ford 8.8 from pull my part..prices unlclear
$218.39 MORE axle swap kit
$133 Emergency Brake cable
$56.91 Yoke

So $600 will just get me an axle

$535 gears, locker, install kit

I swapped my LP30/D35 out for the HP30/8.25/29 spline & is great. As said b4, swap disks in from a liberty or GC & you'll be good to go. I regeared to 4.56 & locked Front/rear. Best all round setup and was direct swap. All you need for the 8.25 swap are new Ubolts.
