Aside from Springs, shocks and lower control arms, what am I looking at? Its a 96 xj with a 5 speed. Will I need longer flex brake lines? transfer case drop? Driveshaft spacers? From what I gather I'll need a longer track bar. Just trying to figure out what's all involved before i dive in

I suggest reading a ton of threads to get familiar with what's involved.

Longer brake lines, a slip yoke eliminator and CV drive shaft, adjustable double shear track bar, adjustable upper and lower control arms, and possibly a few other things. Lifting your XJ will cause a lot of things to go out of whack, so you'll ave to deal with your whole steering setup too. If you do a search on here, you'll find plenty of threads on the topic.

4.5" is a substantial difference over stock compared to smaller lifts. A lot needs to be reworked to accomodate the new geometry. Other things need to be changed too if you upgrade the tire size. You should really do some reading...

Its not all that bad lol.... Just look at what any of the complete lift kits come with (or just buy one). All you would NEED aside from that is longer driveshafts... a slip yoke eliminator isn't needed for movement but will be shortly after so your driveshaft doesn't fall out on trail. Almost every kit comes with longer brake lines and everything else you need suspension wise. If you are putting on bigger tires, gearing will be needed eventually (though many wheel without doing it).
I know plenty of people that get by just throwing a lift/bigger tires/Driveshafts and driving off. That is pretty much how mine started. You can add the rest later as you go along. Depending on how much you wheel, gears/lockers etc. should probably be on the near horizon. I would highly recommend having the SYE on hand though (pretty cheap)and purchasing a complete kit if you dont know what all you will need. Good luck!
