With a 4 1/2" lift don't go cheap you will regret it for sure, do it right the first time and you won't have to go back.

From stock to a 4 1/2" lift done right on the cheap side will run you $3-$4k to complete. As with lifts you will need to piece it together from different vendors in most cases. Good shocks will never come in a kit you buy them separate like lots of other pieces..

Do go with a Long Arm Kit the first time.

I'm doing a 4.5" long arm set up on my rig. I have about $1,800 in it so far and about $2,600 more to go. If you want to do it, do it right. The best thing you can do is read, read and read a lil more. Sure you can throw on a 4.5" "budget" kit, but take into consideration that all of your steering, ball joints, bushings, etc. are worn in at factory height once you lift it you'll start having problems due to the different geometry. Just my two Lincolns

I'm already up to $1800 in parts.

1) 4.5" RC X-Series kit (coils and leaf spring packs)
- Adjustable upper and lower control arms
- Adjustable track bar
- Extended steel braided brake lines
- Sway bar quick disconnects
- Drop pitman arm
- All new tie rods (including doing the ZJ upgrade)
- New steering stabilizer
- 1" transfer case drop

2) Summit Racing D-windows 15x8 with 3.75 BS

3) 32x11.5 Kenda Klever M/Ts

I'm sure I'm forgetting a couple of things. And that doesn't include the alignment after I finish installing the lift. So bare minimum, I will have $2000 into the 4.5" lift. I will run the transfer case drop for the mean time but eventually will do a hack & tap at the very least with an XJ front driveshaft swap which will be another ~$200. If I do an SYE and new drive shaft I'll be looking at $500 instead.

I don't see how you can possibly have only $1200 into a 4.5" lift unless you're really good friends with a vendor or just piecing it together.

His pics are on page 1. He just finished the install and the ride "is pretty good". Give him a little time to bend that stock tie rod and bust a ball joint

Tie rod and ball joints still holding up great. I wheel quite often. You wont break stuff if u know how to drive or if something is worn out simply replace it and have fun wheeling!!
