What do you do when you break your rear shock bolts while disassembling?

Cursing extremely loud is one of my go to moves. Happened on both my xjs. You can pop the old ones out and feed new ones thru. My 01 was pretty rusty so I drilled down through the cargo area and fed some grade 8 hardware through 2 steel plates.

Drill them out and fish new bolts through the little access hole.

Lay on your back and look up at where the broken bolts are. They are bolted to a crossmember looking deal. There is enough room to fish a bolt through and into the hole for the bolt. I used really long needle nose pliers

Drill or punch the broken bolts out.

Install bar pin eliminators and never deal with breaking bar pins or having to remove those bolts ever again. You can make or buy them for ~$25.
