The rear axle in my 94 is going out. Just wondering which is the better axle the dana 35 or the chrysler 8.25. Currently it has the dana 35 under it but like i said its taking a crap. Also is it a bolt on swap if i did go with the Chrysler 8.25 or is there anything that needs to be changed? The only thing i know of is different size U-Bolts.

The 8.25 is better in that comparison... I believe you need a driveshaft out of a 94 with the same tranny. So you would need the ds out of a 94 (or close year model?) with the same tranny. And the u bolts are a diff size so you'll need new ones
I was going to look for one with maybe 4.10 gears and a locker in it. Since i'm buying one anyways.

That'd be good just have to regear the front after the rear swapOriginally Posted by Spooner

And I'm going to try and buy the lift kit also. 4.5" I could get away without a SYE for a little while right?

Technically..... yeah you could but the SYE is clearly ideal, at least do a t-case drop. When you get the axle, make sure you get the DS and the U-Bolts (new U-Bolts are preferable i got mine from AOR, a vendor, for 40 shipped) . Make sure the specs of both jeeps are the same for your driveline stuff. ( 6 cyl, Auto, 4X4)Originally Posted by Spooner

another option would be to search the jy or cl for an 87 cherokee with the tow package cuz they have a dana 44 that is bolt up.

is there that much difference between the 8.25 and the d44? from what ive heard they're about the same size. also how hard would the disc brake swap be to do?
