Regardless, you don't need to worry about it.
Uh, wrong info there.

That sensor has always been the abs sensor, and after 97 it was combined with the VSS. But still a sensor for the abs.

So, that's good news...and bad news. It means I do not have a matching set of axle ratios now. I can pull the front drive shaft and run until I find a 4.10 D30.

But, that mini spool has me spooked.
Have you confirmed the d30 is 3.73? Look in pull yards, 4 banger xj's came with 4.10's.

Ok, I have confirmed the guy I purchased the axles from had no clue what he had...which turns out to be good for me! Yanked the cover off the D30 and found 4.10's in there as well! Woot!

So, with all the sleuth work done now (I hope!) it's time to move this into a build thread. I'll post up a link here when it's ready!

Thanks!

I wasn't thrilled about 3.73's but $200 for the set I thought was worth the marginal gains. I figured if nothing else, I had the larger carriers that would be needed to regear.

4.10's over my current 3.55 should be much better, especially for towing!
