There are people who enjoy being " that guy " I don't really care but thanks for all the positivity folks, I appreciate it. The SRT-4 forums were more or less the same, I still go there from time to time to give advice to new SRT owners. I'm far from new to forums I was genuinely shocked that welding the shock to the body was even an option that's why I started the thread sorry if I offended anybody, didn't mean to ruin your day. Threads like this make it pretty clear who you can message and ask questions/run ideas by. So far most of the Jeep folks I've met have been very cool, we used to have SRT meets all over NC with the forum members and became pretty close friends.
PS beware I'm destined to ask more " case study questions " in the future. This is my first Jeep/4x4 project.

Like i said in my earlier post when i bought my xj the previous owner had welded both rear shocks to the body. I was blown away as well. Who the **** would do that? Haha.

Broken shock bolts are a ridiculously prominent problem, so I guess that would be a pretty obvious solution to someone with a welder and a complete disregard for the next owner. Mine actually sheared off just from wear and tear before I even went to replace the shocks, so my Jeep's suspension is like a tripod until I can get an air chisel to do the shock mount mod with it. Rides real nice

Has it ever dawned on you that, just perhaps, there are people on this planet who have NOT used any sort of forum before this one? How would it be "average" then???? to me making/maintaining web sites, reading/typing in HTML, etc are simple mindless things. Can you do either of those? should i bash you in front of people simply because you cant? grow up dude.

And just a little tip for those shock bolts, when you put new ones in make sure to use some type of anti seize compound on the bolts, i use it on everything and have never had a problem getting bolts to come back out. Permatex and a few other companies make it, i would suggest the big bottle, you will use it

It's interesting how we can see a splinter in someone else's eye and not the log in our own eye......
