Transmission swap questions?
In many previous threads, I dealt with questions I had while doing my 2wd-4wd swap. Now I am quite thouroughly finished nad everything runs mechanically sound. I still have a question about the transmission I installed into my Jeep.
Parts donor was a 1991 Cherokee Limited model. Recipent was 2wd 1995 cherokee. on the 1991 transmission, there was a switch in the cab labeled "power/comfort". In the later XJ's, the TCU was solid programmed to Power setting. The switch changed the shift points on the transmission, Power was higher and comfort was lower". MY question is, without the current switch, which setting is my AW4 running on? Is it still power because the TCU is from a 1995, or is it still wired into comfort? Any help is apprecieated, thatnks!

After 91, Chrysler left out the option for comfort/power and hard wired it to power shifting. My question is, is the TCU running the transmission at power like it would've the 95 tranny, or does it default to the comfort setting? TCU is from the 95. If that makes sense.

ok, so youre running 21 spline stuff from the trans back. i wasnt sure how you mixed the HO and renix stuff together... theres a few ways to do it. anyway, if youre using the 95 TCU youre in power mode.

95 TCU only has Power so you're fine.

91+ is H.O. 91+ is 21 spline. Like Cruiser said, the switch on the dash of the 91 went to the 91 TCM. From there it controlled the transmission. It didnt go strait to the transmission. Your 95 TCM controls the shift points and the TCM itself is in "power" mode.
